Dr. Nathan Higgins
Dr. Nathan Higgins earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Virginia Tech. He then went on to a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Dr. Higgins practiced small animal medicine in Manassas, Virginia. In late 2013, Dr. Higgins and his wife, Wendy, decided to move their family to the eastern shore and start Cape Charles Animal Hospital. Dr. Higgins’ professional interests include surgery, ultrasonography, and challenging medical cases. Outside of work, Dr. Higgins enjoys spending time with his wife, Wendy, and their two children, Autumn and Cayden. He also enjoys fishing, and spending time outdoors. He looks forward to serving Northampton County and the surrounding area.
Eryn Hooker, Assistant/Technician
Eryn has been one of our assistant/technician’s here at Cape Charles Animal Hospital since Fall 2017. Her favorite part about working here is meeting the people and the pets of “The Shore” and making a difference by giving them the best care. She has a love for all animals and has been working in the veterinary field for 6 years. Prior to working in the vet field, she worked at a show barn for about 10 years caring for 86 horses in Virginia Beach with her twin sister. She graduated from Ocean Lakes High School in 2004. She moved to the shore 3 years ago with her 2 sons where she met her significant other and has made the shore her new home. She has had a love for animals and has known she wanted to work with them since she was a child. She has 2 dogs, 1 cat, chickens and 2 horses. She enjoys nature, riding her horses and hanging out with family in her spare time.
Barbara Wivell, Assistant/Technician
Barbara was born and raised in Miramar Florida. She moved to the shore in 1998 at the age of 12 to be closer to her grandparents. She has 2 older brothers, 1 older sister, and an identical twin sister. She graduated from Nandua High School in 2003 and started working in the Veterinary field in 2006. Barbara is an assistant/technician at Cape Charles Animal Hospital. She has been part of the team since the summer of 2017. Her favorite part of her job is making a positive difference in animal’s lives. She enjoys crafting, going to the beach, spending time in nature and being with her 3 children and husband. She also has 3 cats and a mutt.
Brooke Parks, Receptionist
Brooke is a born and raised local from Exmore, Virginia. She graduated from Northampton High School in 2010 with a marketing degree. She is the only girl out of 5 siblings. Brooke has been a receptionist with us at Cape Charles Animal Hospital since we opened in 2015. Her favorite part of being at Cape Charles Animal Hospital is meeting all the new four-legged furr-babies! She spends her time outside of the office with her 4-year-old son and husband camping, boating, at the beach, or cuddling on the sofa. At home she has her own personal zoo with several domestic short hair cats, 2 Pit bulls, and the newest addition… a chihuahua mix which all keep her very busy.
Angela Reid, Receptionist
Angela Reid is currently a part time receptionist at Cape Charles Animal Hospital. The last few years have been spent touring with an equine theatre production as a rider/performer all over the U.S.A., Canada, and even as far as Bejing,China . She also had the opportunity to have completed an internship with the United States Navy's Marine Mammal program working with bottlenose dolphins in San Diego before moving to the east coast. Angela is now happy to settle in one place and call Cape Charles home. At home Angela has an 11 yr old Great Dane , a french bulldog, 2 horses, and a cockatiel named Sonny.
Jessica Charlton, Receptionist
Jessica has been one of our receptionists since the end of January 2018. She was born up in Long Island, New York and then moved to the Eastern Shore with her family. She graduated High School at Northampton and then attended Hollins University where she received a Bachelor's degree in Business and Communication. She lives in Cheriton with her two fur babies, her Pit Bull named Guinness and her cat named Buggy. Jessica has always had a love for animals and is very excited to be a part of the team! She enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
Antonia Fitchett, Assistant/ Technician
Antonia is a proud Alumna of THE Virginia State University (c/o 2018) who has her eyes set on attending vet school in the near future! Born and raised here on the Eastern Shore, Antonia has 3 dogs; Tapanga, Nova and Max. She loves spending her time at the mall shopping and trying new foods! Antonia also loves working at Cape Charles Animal Hospital where she is excited about building wonderful bonds with her coworkers and learning tons of interesting new things every day!
Kati Sterling, Office Manager
Kati joined our team in 2015 as an assistant/ technician, she is currently our office manager at Cape Charles Animal Hospital. She enjoys meeting new patients, and making people laugh. Kati is a “come here” from a town called Hickory on the border of North Carolina. She has 3 children, two dogs, and two cats. When Kati's not at work she enjoys traveling and getting some fresh air outside.
